ALLERGY ALERT – UNDECLARED SOY IN CUISINE BERNART BRAND CABBAGE ROLLS

OTTAWA, April 28, 2010 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to soy not to consume Cuisine Bernart brand Cabbage Rolls described below. The affected products contain soy protein which is not declared on the label.

The following products are affected by this alert:

The affected cabbage rolls may have also been repackaged at retail or sold from certain deli counters. If the original product identity and Best Before code is not evident, you are advised to check with your retailer or supplier to determine if the product is affected.

These products have been distributed in Quebec.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy.

The manufacturer, Cuisine Bern-Art Inc., Lasalle Quebec, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
