Very interesting.  And while DS is obviously not female, his allergies (seasonal and animal) went totally haywire around the start of puberty - which is when he had a anaphylactic reaction to my friend's poodle.

REALLY explains why girls tend to explode into a high risk demographic for fatalities-- right after puberty. 

I also have to wonder if this might not be a good reason to discuss the possible advantages to progestogen-only hormonal birth control methods over those which contain estrogen analogues.
