- May 31, 2012, 10:54:33 AM DD had strep throat last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. She has had Amox several times before. Well, this time she had a reaction. 
Several hours after her first dose, she broke out in a rash all over her body. 
I know that the rash could have been the strep, but who wants to take that chance?? I called the pedi immediately and she changed the Rx to Azithromycin. I was up half the night watching her and making sure that she didn't get worse. Her last drug reaction was to cough syrup and she had a really bad reaction. Hives came and went for MONTHS! It was a total nightmare. Thank god her rash was gone after 2 days and never got any worse. I HATE ALLERGIES!! My nerves are shot. Now I have to get her a new medic alert.
