I see that the party has already passed, but my daughter is interested in doing this as well so we asked about it today at the cake decorating shop.  The owner said to use melted chocolate bars not chocolate chips.

I think if you want colors you will have to use white chocolate chips or a white almond bark and use food coloring, but you can't use just any food dye.  I believe it has to be oil based.

My PNA/TNA DS is having his birthday party in two weeks and I am making some of chocolates using plastic molds for one of the activities.  All the bags of colored chocolates I've seen at stores have peanut or tree nut warnings on them.  Anyone have some they've used that are safe?
