We did avoid—1998 and 1999. But I BFed and loved the butterfinger McFlurries. And the those summers were hot ones in Dallas, and I availed myself of those treats pretty often.
And I ate PB at home.
But I hope when DS has kids, they do it differently.
Same Mac. We avoided, but he was getting liberal amounts of Peanuts and other nuts through breast milk. I BF'd for 2 1/2 years, but stopped eating all nuts when he had his first PN reaction around 18 months.
He had horrible eczema so could have become sensitized that way. Asthma started around 4 1/2-5 months. :dunno:
Maybe it helps but isn't a guarantee.
I did stop eating peanuts while breastfeeding DD because it seemed to correlate with her having digestive upset. So then I didn't feed her PB until she was 1, like many foods, and she was allergic quickly.
How are the parents who are so allergic going to feed their babies peanuts? Babies are messy. Maybe the partner will have to away from home?
