Title: Yoghurt
Post by: SilverLining on August 20, 2026, 05:35:34 PM
I am buying tubs of plain Balkan yoghurt to add calcium to my diet. Any suggestions on things to substitute before tubs go bad?

I am buying Balkan instead of Greek because it's high in calcium and lower in calories.

I've never seen Balkan yogurt!  What brands do you buy?

I use plain Greek yogurt, and add season fruit and just a spoon full of granola for crunch.

There's a place near my MIL that makes the most delicious yogurt parfaits with plain Greek yogurt, almond butter, granola, berries and bananas. Mmmmmm.

I think in the states it may be called Regular Yoghurt. I buy Astro, which is a Canadian brand and probably not even available in the states.

The difference between Balkan and Greek is how they are made. The end result is Greek is thicker but also higher in calories and lower in calcium.
