Title: Trader Joe's Thanksgiving Turkey
Post by: nonuteen on November 21, 2012, 09:13:44 AM
Anyone purchase their turkey from TJ's.  They are antibiotic and steroid free which appealed to me but have never purchased a large turkey from them before.  They called corporate and verified no nut ingredients but there were not actual ingredients listed on the bird.

Any thoughts?

I think if anything like broth, etc. is added, then ingredients would have to be listed.  Normally on meats, veggies, etc. with no added ingredients they don't have an ingredient list.

Yes-- probably safe.  If you've called, then it's unlikely that there is a risk, or they'd have told you.

VERY few turkeys are problematic-- it's mostly a matter of preparation that makes turkeys unsafe for PA/TNA persons.  Watch out for deep-frying (peanut oil), stuffing recipes which include almonds, pecans, or other tree nuts, etc.
