Hello,
A shot in the dark ... Anyone knows if there's true interaction between immunosuppression drugs and IgE blood test ?
I have 10++KUa/L on my teens, now I'm at 0.1 KUa/L ... theoretically, i'm ready for a skin test.
Thank you !
I would THINK that the answer is "potentially, yes."
I cannot find any information specifically about your question at AAAAI's Ask the Expert, however that is probably where I'd ask it.
You probably need an answer from a real guru in immunology, or at least someone very familiar with the literature in this specific area.
:)
I just received the results from my last blood test, this time it's non-detectable (<0.10) for specific milk ige.
I'm still waiting for the Ige total .... I think if the result of it come at non-detectable, this will mean immunosuppresion drug suppress IgE (I think).
I see the normal of total ige should be <100KuA/L ... but I can't see anywhere what should be the minimum to be normal.
I don,t think this normal for someone to have zero IgE , correct ?
Scored a 32 for IgE Total
Did myself a SPT test (would not recommend it though ..) , scored a wheal of 11mm
Took like 2 ml of milk, no reaction :)
So far so good
I just realized that it is the mean diameter I have to calculate, so I did around 8 or 9mm
I've had blood test and skin prick tests while i've taken Clemastine a couple hours before the tests and still all my tested foods showed up..
Yeah-- I think that the question here is whether or not SHORT-term-- or LONG-term, if any particular immunosuppressant has the ability to artificially depress IgE.
I think that the answer may be yes, LONG-term, but that it might also depend on the mechanism of the immunosuppressant in question.
(I say that as a scientist with some pharmacology background to bring to bear-- I haven't actually LOOKED at any literature in this area, assuming something even exists.)
Did the SPT test today, 5mm for milk, 0mm for casein, 0mm for betaglobulin
We are going for a challenge !!!
:crossed: that it works out!! Good luck.
I passed the test without problems :happydance:
Never ever loose hope, allergies can always disapear at what ever age !!
CONGRATS!!! ;D
