I see blog posts about homemade soap and would like to try it. Does anyone have a trusted source for supplies?

We've used glycerin bases from pretty much whoever supplies Jo-Ann and Michael's and other craft stores.

DD is pn/tna, and I'm sfa.

We did the same thing. It was fun. We put little toys inside and used them as gifts.

Wish we had a joann's or michaels. I have to order online-no one near me has craft stuff. I'm hoping to find a milk-based soap base-can anything like that be added to glycerin soap base?

We've not tended to use much in the way of scents-- some food extracts and liquid food coloring, but not SOAP scents.

I've added dry lavender flowers to ours, and glitter/mylar at one point.

We have not used milk-based soap base.

Do you mean only melt and pour, or do you want to really make soap with cold process?

I used to get bases for melt and pour from Southern Soapers and they had pretty good deals on kits and free shipping.  You could pick several items and they also sold small samples of oils for fragrance.  I think they went purely wholesale, so you may no longer be able to get smaller quantities.  Even then, I still have some left from years ago!

Try searching for them.  They may have a sister site for smaller orders.

I'd like to avoid dealing with lye and all that. I'll see if I can find information about southern soapers later-we're getting ready to leave.

I have never shopped this site, but the prices look good on this soap base.  You would have to call for allergy risks.  I simply googled and it seemed to have a lot of good ratings.

You can get a "loaf" mold and them just slice bars off of it.  They have different shapes, and you can get a wavy cutter and they look pretty.  It is also fun to mic glycerin clear base with milky base, and put colored chunks in your soap.  Looks pretty too.  Like this:
