I keep forgetting to call them during business hours! Locally, it has disappeared, along with shelf tags, from the shelves.  A stock boy at one of the stores said he knew something had been discontinued, but he wasn't certain what.

I use it all the time now (thanks to not a little encouragement and several emails from Kelli Rudnicki) as an egg re placer in several recipes! :-/

Can you get Mori-nu? I've called and facility is nut free for Silken tofu. I've bought on both coasts. IMHO higher quality than Nasoya.

CMdeux

Nasoya was our calcium-sulfate enriched tofu, though...

Wonder if Mori-nu can be had up at Uwajimaya.... hmmm.  That's where we stock up on other stuff.

Mori-nu is virtually everywhere and it's shelf stable. Uwajimaya jacks up their prices on 'staples'. I think I bought my last case from Amazon.

P.S. Avoid shopping during senior discount days... or go directly during senior discount hours with a senior. 10% off.

CMdeux

LOL-- some days I think that I could pass for senior myself...   :P

we were last up there at Father's day... oy vey, what a mistake.

I'm serious! My grandmother has only ever shopped during senior hours. There's a contingent of grannies with younger family members in tow to push the cart and carry out the groceries. Bring a senior I think they card.

@OP, rechecked Amazon.com they have nearly every type of Mori-nu brand shelf stable silken tofu from soft to firm, organic and conventional. Should be non-taxed and ships Prime if you have that. For a case delivered to your door it's a good price. The straight tofu should be safe for your kids allergens you may want to call again before ordering. I got a real person with real answers so CSR should be reachable. They did caution me against using their processed products such as chocolate pudding mix ins - those are farmed out to other manufacturers outside of their facility.

Shelf stable means one case should last you a while BUT sometimes Amazon's case expiry dates are too short. They've gotten better and should send another free of charge if it's not a good expiry. Make sure to check it.

If you want to know why it's shelf stable Mori-nu's tofu making process happens inside the sealed package itself. You could keep it in a pantry or garage shelf.

Nasoya still lists the silken on their web site.  I wonder if it's something the store has discontinued carrying?

I know Wegmans carries a shelf stable brand, but I never looked into it.  I'll have to investigate. Maeve- nasoya hasn't gotten back to me, but its 3 different chain stores and1 independent health food store- that's what makes me nervous!
