ALLERGY ALERT UNDECLARED PEANUTS IN CERTAIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES PRODUCED AND SOLD AT THRIFTY FOODS, 2662 AUSTIN AVENUE, COQUITLAM, BRITISH COLUMBIA

OTTAWA, January 19, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Thrifty Foods are warning people with allergies to peanuts not to consume the chocolate chip cookies described below. The affected product contains peanuts which are not declared on the label.

The affected product is in-store baked Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies incorrectly labelled as Chocolate Chip Cookies. The cookies were sold in 500 g packages bearing UPC 0 74147 66187 5 and a Best Before date of 11.JAN.25, (January 25, 2011).

This product was sold at Thrifty Foods, 2662 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam, British Columbia.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanuts.

The manufacturer, Thrifty Foods, 2662 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

OTTAWA, le 19 janvier 2011 LAgence canadienne dinspection des aliments (ACIA) et Thrifty Foods avisent les personnes allergiques aux arachides de ne pas consommer les biscuits « Chocolate Chip Cookies » décrits ci-dessous. En effet, le produit touché contient des arachides alors que létiquette nen fait pas mention.

Le produit touché est les biscuits « Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies » cuits en magasin qui portent par erreur létiquette des biscuits « Chocolate Chip Cookies ». Les biscuits ont été vendus en emballages de 500 g portant le CUP 0 74147 66187 5 et la date « Meilleur avant » 11.JAN.25 (25 janvier 2011).

Ce produit a été vendu chez Thrifty Foods à ladresse 2662 Austin Avenue, à Coquitlam (Colombie Britannique).

Aucun cas de maladie associé à la consommation de ce produit na été signalé.

La consommation de ce produit peut déclencher une réaction grave, voire mortelle, chez les personnes allergiques aux arachides.

Le fabricant, Thrifty Foods de 2662 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam (Colombie-Britannique), retire volontairement du marché le produit visé. LACIA surveille lefficacité du rappel.
