Liver-and-Pumpkin Dog cookies:

2 lb liver
20 oz pure pumpkin
1 c flax seeds (optional-- can replace with another binder if needed)
3-5 tbs parsley flakes
1/2 c olive oil
2 c whole wheat flour

Blend oil, liver, and pumkin in blender until smooth.

Mix with flour, parsley, and flax seeds, and spread into foil-lined greased pans, about 1/2"-1" thick.  Cover with foil and bake at 350 F for 1 hr, cooling on rack and cutting into squares when cool.  Store in freezer or fridge.

Air the house out for several hours and enjoy.

(These DO smell pretty awful when baking, and this is without question the most DISGUSTING meatloaf recipe EVER.  Sorry.  But dogs love them and they are pretty good for them, too.)

My dogs and cats both look at me like "Heyyyyy-- finally you're learning to cook something YUMMEH..."  While I'm trying not to breathe in too deeply while I'm mixing them.

These can also be used as training treats and just crumbled into bits as needed.

Organic Potting soil
Container with drainage
Wheatgrass seed
Oatgrass seed

1. Plant seed
2. Wait for it to be 4" high
3. Pick 2 plump blades per cat
4. Call out "Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssss-ssssesssssssss!" in a high annoying voice completely irresistible to cats.
5. Mock cats as they cry out hysterically and excitedly for their daily dose.
6. Let cats nibble off blade, inching out as needed until they mistakenly chomp your fingertips.
7. Repeat tomorrow at the same time ala Meth Clinic style

Where do you HIDE the kitty grass?

Our cats always seem to operate in seek-and-destroy mode with it, negating our efforts to run a feline methadone program for them.  The one winds up binging on a month's supply...

We Santa made mango cookies for Floppy. He loved them. I'm glad we had researched and found totally peanut free pellets, as they had to be blended. In our blender.

As long as they don't see where I hide it, they never find it :)  Usually it's outdoors growing. In the winter I just buy it at the health food store, let it grow to 4-5 inches (like...just a day really), and then I snip at the base and store in the fridge in a ziploc w/ a damp paper towel. Lasts about 2 weeks!

I do have to get someone over my house to video tape their going after the cat grass. It's all this excited meowing, wide eyes, licking chomps, about to burst --- then they do the perfect "Nom Nom Nom" and even make good nom nom nom sounds.

tehehe

It's also a way I've trained them to come out from hiding. "GRAAAAAAAAAASSSSS-SSSSSESSSSSSSSSZZZZZ" really works. They come RUNNING!

I did over use it when moving across the country though...It became "GRASSSSSESSSS!"   "NOT ON YOUR LIFE B!TCH!"
