Hello. I haven't been here in years but these allergies I have are only develope more. Now they are giving me breathing issues. But I am unsure if this is asthma (because I really have no idea how asthma feels like) or if this is some type of anaphylaxis. So I would like your opinion on what exactly this is.

Officially I am still not diagnosed with any allergies even though I react to lots of stuff. My allergy skin prick tests turn up negative. Often I do not react to the histamine control and then the nurse has to prick me twice with the histamine but does NOT prick me twice with the allergens.

Once one nurse thought she saw a mild reaction to rice but the doctor dismissed it as nothing. I certainly have a problem with all grains.

I have been diagnosed with NCGS (but my actual symptoms match Celiac and I have the celiac gene and I get weight loss, etc from it). So have been grain free since July 2019...

But my main enemy is CORN. All corn derivatives. React outside of restaurants to places cooking corn. Get burning eyes + itching. Get other reactions too. And its very hard to avoid.

Last August (2023) I started to get a new reaction. I finally traced it to 3 separate hidden corn in a powdered drink. I was trying to get potassium. But the drink (even though I only took 1/4 of a serving) gave me horrible itching. Plus even more scary was the fact it gave me this weird tight chest and this feeling of "no air in the air". Its like the center of my chest is constricted. And then when talking I run short of breath and I get this urge to cough. I went to the urgent care and my lungs were clear. They were guessing it was asthma? But the doctor they had tried to refer me to had closed his business so I was never seen.

I also have a lot of issues with PCPs as they don't understand these allergies I have and some think its "in your head". But unfortunately its not.

Then I had to move so going to doctors was put on hold. Had to find a new place to live which was very hard.

But now that same breathing issues, whatever it is, is back. Except now I am getting it from milk products. I am trying to add food back to my very limited diet. Last December I was able to add eggs back in. The eggs stopped my hair falling out.

Now I am trying dairy. But it gives me this breathing issues. And I want to know what this IS.

I know last year the breathing issue would last 5 to 7 days and then it would fade away if I stopped eating the thing. I presume it will do the same with this milk.

Except the other day I seemed to have gotten it from a contact reaction. Was washing a buttery plate from a few days ago (which had been in the fridge). And boom! Tight chest! Like a vice on it. And then the no air in the air feeling.

I get it from yogurt too. And yogurt (the cleanest I can find) also gave me ear ringing. And peeling skin on my finger. Back of my head went numb. Increased heart rate (I have an oximeter to test for Pots). Seems to affect my eyesight. Slime in throat.

In the past my local allergist only told me that my problems are "not serious" and that I was only whining about minor stuff abd that I should just take antihistamines over the counter. Ignored the fact that trying to take a simple cough drop in the past (which had contained a corn derivatives) had given me a swollen jaw. And that a different brand (more corn) actually gave me coughing jags that lasted for 30 minutes where I could not stop coughing. Hidden corn in potting soil made me itch like crazy. Shampoo + conditioner that had contained hidden corn made me horribly potsy and itchy etc. Styrofoam (corn) gives me rashes if I touch it. I recently had received a box in the mail that had those packing peanuts and that made me scratch like crazy too!

The cheese I tried actually burned my tongue. Strong burning feeling. It was cold cheese from the fridge. I saw these raw spots later in my tongue. I ate the cheese by itself. No other food. So i know it was the cheese.

I walk past the one major sport / entertainment building here and the food fumes make me itch. All over body itching. One time it was a very heavy oil type oder and that made me feel naseau. As in deep frying oil. No idea what type of oil they use.

I don't know how to figure out if corn is hidden in these dairy products or if its the dairy itself? But is this no air thing.. Is this asthma? Or what is it?

I am trying to make an appointment to go see someone.

I only seem to get potsy from the wrong food / smell. Otherwise I don't have it. Which of course is why I am not diagnosed with it.

And while I have this "no air in the air" going on then my sensitivity to smell gets worse. I was reacting inside a clothes store with new clothes. Had the tight chest and the all over body itching started. Burning eyes.

I have autism (aspergers).

I never eat out anywhere. I cannot.

That's a lot.

False negative allergy tests are rare. But they do happen. I've had negative results, including to the histamine.

Tight chest, and no air in the air... do you mean, it feels like you can't breath, although you are breathing? I have had that from anxiety attacks. Sometimes that anxiety was caused from having reactions to foods while doctors told me I had no allergies. Please don't misunderstand and think I'm saying it's in your head.

Do you carry an epi-pen? It sounds like you should.
