Ummm, I think after my nephew's wedding I am ready for my coronation as the Cupcake Queen.  And I even used my powers for good (for anyone who missed it, I did it because the bride is allergic to peanuts and could not find a safe baker).

What you did was NOT out of pushiness in a classroom setting . . . Hedge, you did an awesome job for your family's wedding.  I think you need a different title with better connotations.   ;)

Perhaps, Cupcake Master?

:smooch:
Is this where I blame iPhone and cuss like an old fighter pilot's wife?

Hedgie, my goodness, I had no idea that was the reason behind it, either.  WOW!

I fully anticipate making DD's wedding cake some day, if she wants me to.  Which will be fine, since I don't mind, and have done one before (my own).

Mac, I am totally snickering over that post.   Oh my.

Okay. Not cupcakes. But wow. I would totally bring these in for class treats.

Vagina Cookies

I just cannot fathom bringing those in for second graders.  And unannounced, but expecting a lesson plan to go with it?  Might be fun for a more adult themed party though.  Maybe for my 50th in November.

I'm thinking it didn't really happen. Seriously what mom would expect this to be a teaching moment.

But the idea of doing to point out the idiocy of class treats is intriguing.

(I think that story is fake, but it sure was funny . . . )

If they could say "NO!" to V-cookies they can say "NO" to any and every other food treat as reward.

But of course, we knew I'd say that.

Anything from The Stir is questionable in regards to accuracy.  Heck, even their supposed "factual" articles are generally riddled with mistakes and assumptions that are insane.

(Irony that I discovered that page when searching for articles about the chef who didn't believe people had food allergies and served them their allergens - I think that chef story was debunked as well).
DS1 - Wheat, rye, barley and egg
DS2 - peanuts
DD -  tree nuts, soy and sunflower
Me - bananas, eggplant, many drugs

Oh, that was a funny read, about the va-jay-jay cookies.

I had forgotten about these threads with all the cupcake books, movies, etc...  so funny.  The word cupcake has stopped making sense to me.  It sounds weird after saying it in my head so many times.

Oh, and Hedgie, I do now remember you were making the cupcakes to be safe for the bride.  You are awsome!!  There are legitimate reasons for cupcakes in this life, like a wedding, a birthday, as long as it is not 24 of them in a classroom, and a party, Dr. Who season premiere, etc...

I think cat-butt cupcakes would send an AWESOME message there.

As in....

do you know where you can shove all of this crap-crap-crap-crap-crap??

Besides, what says "festive" like cat butt?

;D

One more helpful thought about classroom cupcakes... just for anyone that still thinks that this MIGHT be an okay idea, to serve home-made baked goods to others' children...

ROFL!!

So now I'm thinking about "Here Kitty" cupcakes that have icing to look like cat doo-doo on top, and then the cupcakes are nestled cutely into a box filled with kitty litter.

Serve using kitty-litter-pooper-scoop.

Hi Parents

I wanted to to touch base with you in regards to our class holiday party.
It will be on Wed the 23rd in the afternoon, Teacher will let me know the definite time as we get a little closer but it will be after the kids lunch!

If anyone would like to donate items for the kids to enjoy our party that would be fantastic! Teacher also suggested an activity for the kids to do while they enjoy their yummy treats! Please take note that we do have a food allergy/sensitivity to tree nuts and sesame seeds among our little friends and as per school policy please no homemade items and as always check in with Nurse and her staff before sending in items to make sure everyone enjoys the party!

There is a list below of items to bring, they are suggestions so if you want to send something in and its not on the list feel free to add it with you name! Please put you name on the list when you reply all so all the parents know what is being brought and we have some great variety! Thank you all in advance for helping to make this a great event for our 5th graders! Have a wonderful day!

        Best,
           ~Room parent

So really they are going to eat their regular lunch and essentially have another one.  I told DS that we will take his grandparents out for a special lunch at Burton's Grill instead.  I'm really happy that this is his last year in elementary school...DD does not run into this at the middle school at all.

And I was a little annoyed at the word "sensitivity"
