CM, look up Zinke Orchards. I don't know if they sell straight-up almonds, but their almond butter has only one ingredient--dry roasted almonds--and the text "no peanuts or other nuts processed in our facility" on jars; and I know it's available locally.

This is all so useful. Thanks all! I am in the UK and a lot of the farms / suppliers won't ship over here alas.

I got a really useful reply from Blue Diamond which I thought others would find helpful

'First, Blue Diamond only processes almonds; however, the transportation equipment used to transfer the almonds from the orchards to the processing facilities is shared with other nut growers. Many of our almond growers in our grower co-op have other tree nut orchards (separate from the almond orchards).

Let me emphasize that the harvested almonds are NOT shipped together with any other nuts; however, because the equipment is shared , it is possible that a stray walnut, pistachio or hazelnut be left behind in the dumpers.

With our tightly controlled processes, it si unlikely that something like that would get through our system and into our finished/packaged products, but in the event it does, we need to inform our consumers of the possibility with that statement on our packages.

Other tree nuts would include walnuts, pistachios and hazelnuts.'

I have one daughter with only walnut allergy and one with only peanut allergy so am navigating the minefield of sourcing nuts with minimum risk of cross contamination. Our doctors here , who are leading clinical research projects at Guys and St Thomas hosp, believe it's really important to keep giving them the nuts that they can have to prevent them developing allergies to those too. But finding nuts that haven't been processed with others is really hard.

Has anyone ordered from Zinke Orchards lately? I've had good luck with them in the past but am unable to get through on their phone lines. I'm guessing they may be sold out again which is the problem I ran into last year . . . only it was much later in the year. We only had to wait a few months before the September harvest. Do you know of any other almond only growers that are affordable? Thanks for the help!

This thread is quite old, but want to add some info that might be helpful-  I have a PA son and order our walnuts from Haag family farms. In my last shipment, I found an almond. I was informed that this was a problem with one of their shellers and that it wouldn't happen again.
Just thought I would mention this, as it presents a potentially serious risk of cross contamination for those with almond allergies as well.

Irene thanks!  I wonder if their nuts aRe PF. It is very difficult to find PF macadamias. I did, but I found many other sources that process peanuts.  Surprisingly.

I have not been able to find chestnuts that are peanut free.  Anyone has any ideas?

I just found a source for peanut free almonds, walnuts, cashews, pistachios and pecans.  We have been able to get almonds, pecans and pistachios easily enough and have them in our home most all of the time.  But walnuts and cashews have been harder/impossible to find without mail ordering them from Tierra Farms--which we haven't done in two years. 

Trader Joe's and Whole Foods sells these.

Okay, well my TJs only has the walnuts and only for a limited time. And my Whole Foods doesn't have them at all.
