I spoke too soon.  The study she was talking to me about was only relevant to our particular situation.  And newer data came out today that does not necessarily support the mist.  DS, did, however, get his annual flu shot.

Our allergist says the same for DD, no mist due to asthma.  I just have the nurse do shots for all 3 kids.

We'll ds and I finally got our flu shots.

DH is on a priority list, so when he was in the doctor's office, though the shots were not yet available to the "general public" he was ankle to get his. DS and I had to wait, and then there's just been one thing after another delaying us.

DS says he prefers getting his shot at the pharmacy. At the doctor he gets very woozy and has to lie down. That doesn't happen at the pharmacy. He says it's because he doesn't have to wait. We fill out the paperwork, go in the office, he gets the shot. Easy-peasy.

I got mine yesterday.  I had been meaning to for a while, but was always in a hurry. 

DD has not gotten hers, and I don't think she will.  She has never liked sh***, always a lot of anxiety with them.  But the last vaccine she had was the typhoid last year before her trip to Cuba.  The one that us suspected of cruising the reaction she had there.  So now she is afraid the flu vaccine will do the same to her.  I will not argue with her on this.  That whole thing had me terrified, so I can imagine how she feels.  So even though I know the flu vaccine, which she has never had a problem with, should be safer, especially if she gets it while healthy, I will respect the fear.

Ds and I were vaccinated yesterday.  I told ds i would give him $5 to do it, lol.  My kids are terrified of shots.  he asked about the nasal spray administration, smart 10yo that I have!!  He thought of it before I did.  So, he did the spray and I chose the shot.  My arm hurts, but so far, no redness or swelling, which I did have many years ago.  I had avoided it for years upon advice from a nurse that i was at rick for anaphylaxis at that time.  But, I decided that I now need a flu shot.  I had pneumonia in June, and then again either it or bronchitis a month later.  I feel more fragile than usually with that. 

So, egg allergy is a contraindication for the nasal spray, right?  Dd would do that easily, but she fights me on the shot.  Maybe have to pay her too.  I think it is worth it, since they are so afraid of shots.  Last year it only cost me a froyo.

As they charge by weight, the froyo would cost me way more for DS than the $5.00.  Luckily, I do not need to bribe him.

The whole family was vaccinated; had to fight with DD's pediatrician's office (again) to give her the vaccine. DD is egg allergic, but she's now had the flu vaccine four times without issue.

I shared your family's PSA with a Facebook friend the other day. This person posted an anti-flu vaccine article and one of her friends posted with her theory that not getting the vaccine makes your immune system stronger and how her boyfriend had gotten a skin infection from the vaccine.

Needless to say, we know that is false but Google keeps reinforcing what his family says. Does anyone have any really good non biased scientific articles backing the fly shots I can send him?

My husband never ended up getting his flu vaccine and now has the flu.  Fever, cough, aches, the works.  Ugh.   

Thinking you and your son today, mumaluke.  My husband would like to apologise to you and your son for not taking your story more seriously and he promises to get his flu vaccine every year now, no questions.
