I have a friend whose child has alot of allergies. They are doing NAET. Starting on nuts? Please let me know if you have any information on this. I have an appt with a NAET person on Friday to see if I truly do have a seafood allergies. All test blood and spt come back negative. Thanks! OR if it is a waste of money?

NAET is snake oil.

Period.

Others will no doubt be along to elaborate, but anyone who has life-threatening food allergies ought to RUN SCREAMING from a NAET practitioner.

Resistance isn't futile.  It's voltage divided by current.

gotcha that is what I was thinking. She just was having second guess it. I will see what happens with her child. I told her to be careful b/c people have died from it.

Now, now - my friend was cured of all of her allergies using NAET.  The doctor was kind enough to inform her she had allergies, waived his magic wand multiple times to the tune of way too much money and pronounced her cured

I look at it this way, if it worked, I think all of us would be lined up around the block for NAET's services.  None of us like living like this.  Since it doesn't, we are just eagerly awaiting either a treatment study to open up or obtaining a cure from one that actually works.
DS1 - Wheat, rye, barley and egg
DS2 - peanuts
DD -  tree nuts, soy and sunflower
Me - bananas, eggplant, many drugs

Interesting, they say they don't claim to cure allergies on their opening page.  However when I search for a NAET specialist in my area, one of the search functions is for anaphylaxsis....

Left hand, right hand...

Agreed.  As much fun as I'm having with this allergy life...I think that I could probably be persuaded to give it up for something that might work that was backed by actual science...

I've had, (and have...grr...) family members who I know just really want to help who are very much into the 'alternative' medicine therapies.  You know, if I just take the right 'supplements', my symptoms will be much improved.  Problem A: I believe in the 'placebo effect'.  I believe that some of these things can help you out if you think that they will.  Problem is, I don't even remotely think that they will, so that kind of throws placebo effect out the window.  Problem B: Anyone who is willing to add any type of supplement to my drug-ridden body (I'm on between 10 and 20 prescriptions on any given day) that is not a pharmacist or a doctor is stupid at best.  You really want to screw with this chemical wasteland?

Ultimately, please tell your friend to be very, very careful.  NAET is not a safe or effective treatment for IgE allergies.  As far as I know, while the treatment itself is not harmful, I would hate for her son to have a reaction after being told that he was 'cured'.

She said he is going to have her put a peanut in her sock for a couple of hours (if nothing), then the child will hold peanut in hand (if no reaction), then he will put a dab of peanut butter on her tongue. I thought she was crazy. She got very defensive and said she has all the faith in the world of doing this. I tried to tell her but this is all through facebook messages. She said she knows people who have done it and it worked for them. I then asked if her daughters allergies are anaphylactic (sp?). She said yes to peanut and all tree nuts. Why would someone do that? I tried to tell her and told her to look up deaths from NAET and peanut, but she wouldn't listen. I just gave up!

I wish she would change her mind.

NAET testing and accompanying treatments questionable at best, and downright dangerous at their very worst

Honestly, I pray for your friend's child.  If this actually WORKED, wouldn't people be doing it all the time?  There is at least one Peanut allergy death attributed to this method.  Probably more.
