I went looking for Nerds, couldn't find them.. so I got these chewy ball things.. they say made in a facility that processes wheat.  Do ppl trust wonka?

No, we do not rely upon Wonka labeling to be accurate for egg or nuts-- at least not w/r/t cross-contamination.

I trust Wonka as here in Canada, they do label for cross contamination for nuts/peanuts (ie: Wonka chocolate bar lists 'may contain peanuts/nuts).  Nestle Canada labels well.  But this is Nestle Canada, which may have different labelling policies than Nestle USA.

I did trust them but there was a recent reaction story where the parent suspected wonka pixy stix, which read safe, as being the source of the reaction. I don't know if there was any update on it but it makes me too nervous right now.

I would call them directly to ask.  I know of others who had reactions to their products and months later the labeling changes took place (wheat/egg related though, not nuts).

We have banned Wonka in our house as a result.  I refuse to support a company that refuses to recognize the seriousness of allergies.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll stick to my Sourpatch Kids that are still safe, I think.. even though the label is from 2007!

We've always used Wonka if the labeling looks okay, and continue to do so.  Knock on wood, we haven't had any issues thus far.  We are PN/TN allergic.

We have a thread-- a recent one about Wonka.

I must say, I am hearing "Wonka" a LOT in my house.  In fact, I hear DS saying (as I type): "Try a Wonka Bar. Try it now!"

(He is NOT urging anyone here to do so, however.)

I recall hearing about that too.  However, I don't recall hearing that the product was ever tested.

As I've never had a problem with Wonka, I do still trust their labelling.

Wonka and Tootsie are our go to brands for store bought candy.  Never had a problem.

I've eaten Wonka products all my life (Nerds, Pixie Stix, SweetTarts) and never had a problem, I am PA only however.
