Looks like Monday will be spent making phone calls.

last night I had a reaction.  I'm guessing peanut contamination because it was a mild reaction.  One side of my left are, between wrist and elbow was swollen, red, hot, and rashy looking.  slightly itchy, but not like sesame does to me.

History says I react quickly, so it's doubtful it was anything eaten earlier in the day.  the recent things I had eaten:

a coffee, black with a new sugar -turbinado style raw sugar (made by Kraft)

A Nestlé Aero chocolate bar

chicken & Rib flavoured potato chips (Our Finest)

~~~~
Reread all labels.  Chocolate bar should be fine, NestlĂ© puts warnings.  chips, I've eaten before and appear well labeled.  there are warnings for other allergens (even mustard warning for may contain).  That leaves the sugar.  Mostly I do trust Kraft Canada.  But, it's looking like the guilty party.
I never would have thought sugar would be a risk.
Macabre
Oh SL--oh no!! I hope it resolves quickly.
Wow--Out of all those things, I wouldn't suspect the sugar. Maybe the chips, but I'm not familiar with those chips.
The chips are Walmart brand.  The ingredient list includes what kind of oil, and has may contain warnings for a few allergens.  It even says "may contain mustard".  I've eaten them before and never had a problem.  Though safe before doesn't necessarily mean safe today (we all know that).  but it is well labelled.
and though for most things I feel okay about Kraft Canada, there are a few things I won't eat because of previous reactions, which I'm sure were sesame seed.
In cases like this I always wonder-what if someone who was, say, eating a peanut butter cup right before going shopping had it on their hands. And then they touch this or that in the store while getting what they need. Then you touch the same spot and then eat with the same hands. Would that even cause a reaction? I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this. It's frustrating when you don't know where it came from.
Are you sure it isn't a contact dermatitis thing unrelated to what you ate?
Jessica, I don't know if something like that would cause a reaction or not.  I have had mild reactions when shopping and I picked up a product to read the label and the outside of the package felt like there was flour on it.  Sesame was high on the ingredient list, and I'm sure it's what caused my hand to swell before I even left the store.  (Allergies aside, I wouldn't buy a food product that felt dirty like that one did.)
would benedryl clear that up?  I doubt that would have been the cause anyway.  I was home and nothing new around me.
My early allergic reactions tended to be in one or two areas....my forehead, my back, so having it in one area fits for me.
GingerPye
oh ugh, a mystery reaction.   :-/  Sorry you are dealing with that.
You know that sense of impending doom you get when you have a reaction? I think there's a same intuitive thing going on when you have a reaction. As an adult--there are times I just know.
thank you for that MC.  sometimes I think I'm crazy....or people will think I'm crazy.....because I just know.
And if I am crazy, it's nice to have you here with me.   ;D
CMdeux
Not at all crazy-- DD and I both just know, too.
I mean, sometimes that reaction-fog means that it takes a while to register.  LOL.
(Gosh, maybe the fact that you're suddenly sneezing like crazy and trying to pop your ears might be allergy-related.  Who knew?)
Bummer about the mystery reaction.  Why does this stuff ALWAYS--but ALWAYS-- happen on a Saturday, too?  WHY?  Is it for the specific purpose of delaying phone calls until Monday?   :P  Seems to be a specific subsection of Murphy's Law that relates to allergic reactions, though.
pfft!  It was a minor reaction and benedryl took care of it.  yet, I'm not wanting to eat....as in food scares me.
I'm eating meals, but no snacking.  Hoe odd.  (probably healthier though)
Antihistamines clear up contact dermatitis for both boys and myself.
I do wonder based on location if it was some sort of oil residue though on a package.
And I also wonder to about the sugar and sesame moreso than peanut.  Don't know why..
I had been home for about 7 hours....not likely something through a package.
I am more sensitive to sesame then to peanut.  Sesame almost always causes much more severe reactions....but, if it was a smaller amount, it could be sesame.
just seeing this, glad you're okay.  Hate those "mystery" reactions!!!
